What Transportation contributes to Cardinal Health

Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.

Transportation is responsible for the movement of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturing, warehousing and the customer. Management of transportation assets and systems to gain greater service, cost efficiency and optimization of processes.

Accountabilities in this role

Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a team to successfully perform comprehensive logistics services that satisfies organizational and customer's needsProactively resolves field service issues by working with transportation service providers, and internal stakeholdersPlans and executes training and development for direct reports in topics such as processes, technology tools, and other applicable skillsCompletes regular touch base and performance discussions with team membersSupports the resolution of escalated customer needsParticipates in process development and improvement activitiesCoordinates the update and review of metrics and key performance indicators for the teamTracks and reviews service issues at a supplier, and carrier level to ensure appropriate root cause analysis is completed and preventive actions are implementedAssists with other tasks or projects as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferredPrior leadership experience is preferred3+ years of relevant work experience preferredProcess oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvementCustomer first mindsetAbility to engage in effective coaching sessions with team members and willingness to have difficult conversationsExperience in root cause problem solving and mitigating future issuesFlexible and responsive attitude capable of managing multiple, shifting prioritiesAbility to manage and prioritize projects while leading cross functional teams and stakeholdersStrong inter-personal and relationship building skills; able to build relationships at all levels in an organizationMust display a high level of organization skills and the ability to work independentlyStrong computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, among othersExcellent oral and written communication skillsBilingual English and Spanish (verbal and written) is preferred
