What Account Management contributes to Cardinal Health

Account Management is responsible for cultivating and maintaining on-going customer relationships with an assigned set of customers. Provides new and existing customers with the best possible representation and recommendations in relation to service requests, improvements to internal and external processes, billing inquiries and other areas of opportunity. Provides product service information to customers and identifies upselling opportunities to maintain and increase income streams from customer relationships. Collaborates cross-functionally to deliver the most appropriate, high-quality solutions to clients. Creates and executes on strategies to ensure client retention.


-Bachelor’s degree preferred

-4+ years of PBM or payer experience (client facing role strongly preferred)

-Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

-Intermediate to advanced skill set in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

-General knowledge of healthcare system and the practice of pharmacy

-Experience in creating and executing client strategies

-Ability and experience in public speaking to all levels of external customers, up to CEO level.

-Foundational business acumen and understanding of the business processes of PBM services

-Demonstrated accountability for achieving service and retention commitments

-Ability to deliver results under tight timelines

-Pharmacy Technician or 2+ years of direct pharmacy experience/background (strongly preferred)


-Responsible for leading and managing all aspects of servicing and retaining clients

-Applies a consultative approach to identify and deliver upsell opportunities

-Ensures appropriate levels of service and operational support to clients by understanding and championing for clients’ needs and requirements

-Monitors client performance and works proactively across the organization to expeditiously resolve issues, escalate recovery efforts, provides timely feedback to internal and external stakeholders, and ensures that lessons learned are incorporated into the client performance and planning strategies.

-Collaborates cross-functionally

-Applies comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to enhance client relationships

-May contribute to the development of policies and procedures

-Develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are innovative and consistent with organization objectives

-May act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues

  • Anticipated salary range: $73,000 - $103,000
  • Bonus eligible: No
