Infection Control and Drug Delivery R&D is in the Medical Segment of Cardinal Health. This group supports a wide range of disposable medical devices. The ideal candidate for our Principal Engineer is a creative individual who has the ability and the experience to lead multiple projects which present diverse technical challenges. Design and development efforts will support revenue growth and regulatory compliance for safety engineered needles & syringes, cardiothoracic products, fluid management products and medication delivery products for neonates. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Providing technical leadership for medium scale projects.Serving as the liaison between the R&D Functional Manager and Extended Team Members.Effective and timely prioritization and day to day tactical guidance & technical direction to team members within the R&D function.  Identify and resolve short and long term resource constraints.Creative Problem Solving – identify technical risks up front and develop and execute mitigation plans and provide team with direction on how to remove or avoid roadblocks. Building strong relationships with Marketing partners to understand product application, market dynamics, current strengths and future opportunities.Providing effective technical day to day support for product lines under scope of responsibility. This includes timely response and good customer service for Marketing, Regulatory, and our manufacturing plants.Less than 25% travel will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Mechanical, Plastics, or Biomedical Engineering or a related field, MS preferredMinimum of 5 years of related professional work experienceTechnical Leadership experience with a proven track recordExcellent verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of Medical Device Design ControlsOrganized problem solving, decision making, and presentation skillsDFSS certification & statistical savvy is a plusExperience with plastic design principles & CAD (Solidworks) is a plusExperience in Manufacturing and Automation is a plus
