SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of this position is technical support in the design and reliability of high cavitation molding tools, processes, and molding equipment for the manufacturing of Class II medical devices. Position requirements also include: maintaining a high level of mechanical efficiency of all existing production equipment; developing and improving plant production techniques and processes through direction and supervision of design, construction, maintenance, and improvements; direct supervision of hourly employees in the tool room.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervise Mold Maintenance, Mold Machine Maintenance, and Toolmaker personnel. Coordinate mold and tooling projects to meet corporate requirements, capital and expense budgets, and timelines Technical support and advice to ensure the most economical repairs of existing tooling Serve as the technical leader for tool room technicians, mold makers and machinists Assist engineering department in conducting various studies and programs (as necessary) to determine the root cause(s) and solution(s) for undesirable variations in machine processes Maintain annual expense budget for molds, machines and Tool Room equipment. Adhere to plant/procedures, department EHS rules, GMP’s, ISO 13485 regulations, and good housekeeping procedures.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist engineers on project development and implementation. Assure all necessary materials and components are available for daily operations. Interview and assist in the selection of tool room staff. Working knowledge of material properties, pneumatic/hydraulic systems design, and machining processes. Perform presentations and training as required Oversee CAPA projects as directed. Ability to perceive simple solutions to a broad range of problems. Minimal travel is required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School Diploma or EquivalentOne year certification from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology) or equivalent combination of training and experience.Experience:
5-10 years’ experience in injection molding, and/or tooling, mold design, and mold construction. Experience in a medical device manufacturing is preferred.3-5 years in leadership role.Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Mold design, mold making, injection molding, tool making, project management. Experience in a production and/or maintenance supervisory position.Strong written and oral communication to include technical communication skills (both oral and written) to accurately convey technical issues and information.Ability to read and produce mechanical drawingsSkills/Competencies:
