What Machine Operation contributes to Cardinal Health

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.Determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments.Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Accountabilities

Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe working conditions immediately.Ability to work mostly independently following instructions and work as part of a cohesive team. Reach out to a Lead or Supervisor when in doubt.Communicate effectively and bring attention to any unusual operating conditions or unacceptable product quality in accordance with the Quality policy.Basic math and computer skills needed to read, understand, and follow the approved process sheets, visual procedures, operating procedures and complete documentation.Ability to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment, which includes: lift up to 45 pounds with repetitive movements, including pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying at chest and shoulder level, and bending, twisting, crouching. Except for breaks and lunches, standing or walking for up to 12 hours.This position will work on the manufacturing floor, in a clean room environment. When entering the manufacturing facility, safety glasses, hearing protection, hair and beard net, gown and safety shoes are required.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred1-3 years related work experience and/or training preferred
