What Flight Operations contributes to Cardinal Health

Aviation is responsible for delivering flight services to meet the needs of the organization, including safe and efficient operations and maintenance of the company's aircraft.

Flight Operations flight crews operate corporate aircraft in accordance with FAA and International regulatory requirements and company standard operating procedures.

Accountabilities

The Captain is responsible for the orchestration of the entire travel experience of company personnel, customers, and guests during domestic and international travel.  The Captain ensures compliance with all applicable regulations as well as the policies and procedures specified in the flight operations manual.  When not flying, pilots have additional collateral duty responsibilities related to the efficient operation of the aviation organization.

Responsible for operational control decisions of the assigned flights.Responsible for the security of the aircraft when away from home base.Responsible for checking and assessing weather and all applicable NOTAMs where available.Responsible for assessing and ensuring the adequacy of airport infrastructures – departure, destination and alternates.Determines fuel and oxygen requirements.Determines the aircraft weight and balance limits.Ensures that all flight planning requirements have been met.Ensures that the aircraft is airworthy, duly registered, and that all required documentation and operational information are onboard the aircraft.Completes aircraft pre-flight inspection as specified in the company operations manual.Completes post-flight duties as specified in the company operations manual, reporting flight times and aircraft defects.Ensures that each crew member is fit for flight and that flight will not be commenced if a flight crew member is incapacitated (such as injury, sickness, mental and/or physical fatigue).Ensures that the flight will not be continued beyond the nearest suitable aerodrome when a flight crew member capacity to perform functions is significantly reduced by impairment of facilities from causes such as fatigue, sickness, or lack of oxygen. When assigned as Pilot in Command (PIC), assumes command responsibility for the aircraft and crew and is operationally responsible to the Director of Aviation; when assigned as the Second in Command (SIC) to another PIC, the pilot is operationally responsible to the designated PIC for that flight.Demonstrates in depth knowledge of flight, regulatory and safety principles and company flight procedures in a wide range of time critical situations.Identifies and uses all available technical and regulatory resources in decision making process.Monitors and evaluates aircraft conditions and responsible for situational assessment.Demonstrates proficiency of associated equipment and procedures with ability to deviate when necessary in safety critical situations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience, preferred6+ years of experience in related field, preferred or combination of education and experience4000 hours total flight hours with 2000 hours as Pilot in Command and 500 hours multi-engine turbine time experience, preferredExperience flying Falcon 2000LXS and Embraer Praetor 500Air Transport Pilot (ATP) Multiengine Rating requiredAbility to pass Second Class Medical requirements annually
